She took her time tonight. She took a slow walk. She had a strange feeling about tonight. She didn’t mind dealing with it any other night. But just not tonight. Tonight, she didn’t want to deal with anything.
She debated walking in. She saw them. She decided maybe she should wait a while. Just a little while to gather all her composure. So she stood outside…peering inside. She was lost in her own thoughts for a while. Till, she heard her name…
That’s when she heard everything. Not the usual ones…this time it was different.
She stood there…willing herself to walk away so she didn’t have to hear it. But she couldn’t move. Everything that had been holding her together inside cumbled.
She stood just outside…if they really looked, they would have seen her. If they looked, they would have seen everything stripped away. Everything.
They would have seen if they wanted too….but they were never interested in looking anyhow.
And it was then, a sudden shift in emotions came. The kind that’s been silently growing, slowly and yet steadily…waiting for the right chance to hit. Right there and then…it hit the surface.
Looks like the mind and heart aren’t familiar with each other anymore.
Reality sucks, doen’t it? But, realizing that you don’t HAVE to hurt, is pretty amazing in itself.
It’s called freedom.
