Thursday, 28th July 2005 - The Yellow Pill
22hour flight to New York.
Legs cramped.
7 meals provided.
Food - good. Ice-cream - good.

Blanket that smelt like puke.
Turbulence that scared the fricking daylights outta me. Bless CFB’s heart though, she was patient with me.
Just remember, CFB must have water. Lots of water.
Stewardess : “Hello, coffee or tea?”
A very excited CFB : “I want, I want apple juice”
Made friends with Brother Jerry on the plane…much to CFB’s delight. No, seriously…she was a happy girl when he started talking to her.

*Note to self - Sit at the aisle seat to avoid toilet problems.
Finally met JB. She was extremely worried. Made frantic calls to airline to check on our flight. Poor girl. She didn’t know our plane was just doing circles around the airport. Jumped and grinned like fools when we met. And finally, went out to wait for our cab…we just had to do the most important thing. Had ourselves a smoke.
Saw a spectacular display of fireworks…Wanted to try get a photo, but you don’t mess around with the NY cab man. For a moment, we thought we were in a highway speed chase.
Met Steven, the apartment man. Nice fella. Brilliant apartment. We realised we didn’t have much in our fridge..so off to nearest grocery store. It was like an adventure!!! That was where I found the Magical singing toothpaste. Brush you teeth with the Magical Colgate.
Friday, 29th July 2005 - When in Jersey, go mad…go very very mad!!!!
Beautiful day. Headed down to Columbus subway, to get to the Port Authority Bus Station. Saw this along the way and could not resist..

We finally met her. “Oracle” She guided us to our right bus because we were really lost. We knew she would be in the toilet. Cause all toilet ladies are really smart. They know things we don’t. “Oracle Annie” at Port Authority Bus Station. Look for her when lost. We thanked her and as we walked away, I swear I saw her pull a cookie from the air.
Realised we were rather early for our bus. So we just chilled at the bus area.
Bus arrival : 3.15pm
We arrived : 2.00pm
Decision to have a smoke : 2.45pm
Rushed out of the bus area to go for a smoke. We heard it was a 45min journey to Jersey Gardens. Don’t think we even cared. We just wanted to shop!!
The I had a calling. A colorful calling. Of all shapes and sizes. I followed the voice…..and then I saw it. It was shiny and glowing…ok maybe it was just me…but it was beautiful.
Gumball Madness!!!!

The Aftermath!! At the bus stop.

The mess at home. Hehe…I love how messy it was!!! First day chaos!

Saturday, 30th July 2005 - “What day is it? And in what month? ”
All we needed to do was to go to get tickets for Empire & Liberty Island. That was just our morning to-do list. Thats it. Go there, get the tickets and then head down to the Bronx. We could have done it 1/2hr. Question is…did we? Nope. Not at all. Along the way, we just had to stop in shops. All kinds of shops. Shops that made us smile. Shops that made us laugh. Shops that made us think too much that we just had to purchase something so our minds would be at ease.
A 30min walk turned into a 2hr plus walk. And we enjoyed every bit of it. Of course, now we had to unload all our stuff..so back to the apartment. But we still had time to take a photo. Heh..

Rushed off again to Grand Central Terminal. And it was fricking magnificent. Stood there for 10mins to absorb everything in and even that wasn’t enough.

Tried looking for a zebra & a lion…we didn’t see any…

Next stop:

There was a game going on..so it was bloody crowded. And we witness a fight.
Noisy, rowdy & messy = Awesome.
Back to the subway to go down to Fordham Road. Shopped like crazhee people. People were really friendly.
JB: “You guys hungry?”
CFB: “Nah..not really.”
Sharkbait: “Nope…not at all”
3mins later.
CFB: “JB can you see it…can you..can you?”
JB: “What, where? Oh my GAD!!! Its WHITE CASTLE!!!!!”
Sharkbait: “White what?”
JB: “White Castle…from Harold & Kumar, the movie…this it…White Castle!!! Are you hungry? I’m hungry.”
CFB: “Yep…me too”
Sharkbait: “What they got”?
The minute we walked in…CFB had this urgent need to pee. She tried to open the toilet door, but it was locked. She didn’t see this sign…

And of course, when we did ask the counter staff to buzz her in…she missed it. Made her want to pee even more laughing so hard.
White Castle. Amazing shakes. Amazing tiny ass buggers.

And amazing pee buzzer.
Across White Castle. There was place called 99cent shop. 99cents or less. As you can guess…we just had to check it out.
Its funny though, how ribbons of different colors can get 2 girls crazy. They were busy talking ribbon language and trying so hard to find that perfect color. Unfortunately, that particular ribbon lied. It was only a small bit that was left. JB managed to get a kitchen cloth though. We didn’t have any in our apartment. Just in case we spill juice or something.
Walking back to the subway station. We met a man. Who sold colorful ice. We had to try. Orange, Blueberry & Strawberry. Some of the orange spilt on Sharkbait…so there was a tinge of orange on her shorts. She thought nobody saw…but both JB & CFB did. And so did the lady in the van who sold taco’s. And they laughed at the shorts that turned orange.
Left Fordham for home. Cause Ms Rich Chilli was coming over to collect her 25kg/15kg bags. Then decided to head down to Iguna’s.

Nice chill out place. Very spiffy.
Had a beer and had a few laughs. And then came a song of 3 girls in NY. Lyrics were forgotten…but not the tune. Note the table. There is no evidence.

Sunday, 31st July 2005 - “I’m tripping on words. You’ve got my head spinning”
St. Patrick’s Cathedral. 12pm mass. Amazing. Most beautiful church I’ve ever seen.

Since we were good girls who went for mass. And we were right on 5th Ave..might as well do the necessary. Shop. While walking to NBA store..we saw something like a bazaar. Hot nutella & strawberries filled the air..We had ourselves a banana crepe with nutella. That thing rocks. And this one, I can’t make it home. So there we were, 3 of us..taking bites of the damn delicious crepe and just enjoying the moment, smiling to ourselves.
Went down to H&M, Saks, Tiffany and GAP. GAP is a nice place. I like GAP. I would show you the pics of these places…but I have no idea which is which…and of course we visited NikeTown.
Then headed down to Rockefeller Centre. Again…awed by its beauty. We decided to chill there and take in the amazing sights..

Breathtaking..

“Cause it’s you and me and all of the people with nothing to do. Nothing to lose”
Sat down and chilled for awhile and watch people pass us by in the middle of Rockefeller Centre.

Had coffee from Dean & Deluca’s, thanks to CFB. Met a girl whose name we didn’t know. But gave us a tip that Meat Packing District is the place to go. But we ended up at AppleBees for dinner. The place be, to calm your stomach when its on tippytoes.
Great food. Great service. Stomach extremely happy.

Off to Radio City…Dolly Parton was playing..but tickets were sold out. Damnit!!!

And then to Times Square. So many people, so many lights. So many things. Stood in the middle of Times Square. Closed my eyes….and I could hear everything so clearly. People talking, laughing & shouting…cars zooming by, the smell of the horse drawn carriage that really stank and yet it was ok. Honking cars who were not afraid to be fined $350.

We were right in middle of it all. Fucking awesome.

Monday, 1st August 2005 - “There’s something about you now. I can’t quite figure out”
WhoooHOOO!!!! Liberty Island in the morning. Lower Manhattan here we come!! Off the see the the Island & the gorgeous lady.

Yep, thats the queue. Its a good thing we got our tickets earlier..Sunny, breezy day. Perfect.
JB & Sharkbait waiting for the ferry to move…

Guptas on the way to the Island.

View from the the boat. In CFB’s words, “Architecture Heaven” indeed.

History lesson with JB & CFB.

Decided to walk around Liberty Island. Taking alot of photographs of course. Here we again, Manhattan behind us.

And our professional photographer…
Had ourselves a hotdog, drink & ice-cream…and sat under some shady trees
trying to fix the camera, when suddenly….
Sharkbait: “Shit, i dropped my cigarette.”
JB: “Where? In your bag???”
Sharkbait: “No, no..got it out in time”
CFB: “Babe, can pass the drink?”
Sharkbait: “Oh my gad!! Smoke coming out of bag. Shit, my bag is on FIREH!!!
Sharkbait then proceeded to dumb all contents out of the bag as spiffly as she could.

The area which Sharkbait tripped. Courtesy of JB.
Back in the boat,
off to
Back to Manahattan and we visited Ground Zero. Got us all teary eyed…
Into your hands, O Lord,
We humbly entrust our brothers and sisters.
In this life you embraced them with your tender love;
Deliver them now from every evil and
Bid them enter eternal rest.
Welcome them then into paradise,
Where there will be no sorrow, no weeping nor pain,
But the fullness of peace and joy
With your Son and the Holy Spirit
for ever and ever…
Shopping at Century 21 and then off to visit Wall Street. Got held up at Borders. Too many books kept calling our names. Took a train down to Brooklyn. And the view at night….Brillantly fantastic.

Finally had kick ass pizza at Grimaldi’s Pizzaeria. And OH MY GAD!!! Amazing pizza. For a while I thought I was in pizza heaven.
We ordered one to take home. Keep thinking about the pizza now. Sigh….Grimaldi is fantastic bugger.
Tuesday, 2nd August 2005 - “All of the things that I want to say just aren’t coming out right”
Laundry day!!
Bubbles, foam…round and round. Huge dryer. Fresh warm clothes. Though they knew we were laundry virgins cause we were watching the machine abit too closely.
Then off to..

My favourite place. Bleeker Street. I love it. We had Ben & Jerry’s….and then went to find Peanut Butter & Co…and instead, we found ‘World of Comics’. And I went mad inside that store. Bought a whole lot of comics.
Very Happy!!!!
I like Bleeker Street. We walked further down and we finally found Peanut Butter & Co. WHOOHOOO!!! Peanut Madness. Bought ourselves a jar each of course….then off to find those cupcakes we’ve been dreaming about. And no its not near Peanut Butter & Co…its like 3-4blocks down!! But the walk was worth it.
Magnolia Cupcakes!!! Fucking awesome cupcakes…it just melts in your mouth. Fantastic.
Walked down Avenue of the America’s. Had ourselves some chilli at Wendy’s. Went to rest at Union Square…Saw a lady get pissed off because she was talking to herself….saw alot of dogs..People there just love to take their dogs out for a walk. Then we accidentally saw Wal-Greens. And we were off again in a frenzy to reach Wal-Greens. I went crazhee with the lip-smackers…then…
JB: “Psst…Sharkbait…Come here now”
Sharkbait: “Whats up?”
JB: “Look, look, its Pea…pea..peanutbuttercupcakes…look…gum…look butter fingers. Gad help us all”
Sharkbait: “OH MY GAD!!”
CFB: “What are you guys doing?”
JB: “Check all this out”
CFB: “Erm….I want this…I want this one too…how like that..I want everything!!!”
A song about 3 girls in NY, Wal-Greens. (Sing to the tune of your fav song)
There 3 crazy girls.
Who went to Wal-Greens,
They only made it past 2 aisle
because they saw alot of candy & gum
5kg of Gum….
they bought 5kg of gum.
5 kg of gum>
5kg
5kg
5kg of gum..
Now this is what happens..
when your country bans gum..
you end up with
5kg of gum
5kg of gum…
Wednesday, 3rd August 2005 - “And it’s you and me and all of the people”
Sight-seeing. Minimal shopping…ok ok…it wasn’t that minimal.
Walked the Brooklyn Bridge. Sunny & windy…good day to walk the bridge.

Then off to see Flatiron Building, there were upgrading the building I think and the Chrysler Building…
United Nations…
Soon, the kidney beans from Wendy’s chilli started working up..so JB and myself had to take a crap…Went to Hemsley Hotel. Took a while though cause they had posh sofa in the toilet..so we sat down for awhile…CFB managed to find a cake shop and she had herself some chocolate cake something, something..which rocked by the way…
Then off to Empire State building…saw a couple of manjans who of course wanted to cut queue. Everywhere they go, they create problems. Fools.
View from Empire..

How many yellow cabs can you see? If you look really carefully, you can see people.

Walked the streets for abit..and then decided to head down to Rudy’s. Now, if you’ve read CFB blog. Her version for Wednesday at Rudy’s was mild. She missed out a couple of stuff…This was what really happened. Rudy’s was more than just friendly people. Cheap beer…free hotdogs & popcorn…funny bouncers…happy people and here you go…
After one glass..

JB, Del, Sharkbait & Jenz, The smiling German.
Mr Boy & CFB

After 4 glasses…

Rudy’s very own finest bouncers…James & Jimmy…

Had about 3 jugs of good beer…Rudy’s Gold & Amber Bock. Enough to make us on tipsytoes….met singer/song writer Jeff, who honestly would have made it big if it weren’t for the Britney & Justin era…
Sharkbait: “Now Britney & Justin’s era is over, forgotten, vanished, lost..why don’t you start up again?”
Jeff: “Well..I was about too…but Backstreet Boys made a comeback, so I’m fucked”
Nice guy..
Walked 11 blocks home. How we managed it..I have absoulutely no bloody idea. Crashed the min we got back.
Thursday, 4th August 2005 - “I can’t keep up and I can’t back down”
Shopping madness. No really…we went our separate ways..ok so I followed CFB because I was scared I get lost. Went to Macy’s, K-Mart, Old-Navy…and Victoria Secrets. Yep, I too..joined CFB & JB in its madness..2 hours in Victoria Secrets 2 storey boutique. We would have spent more time in there but the wallet did not permit that. They might just have to drag us out of them. JB intends to buy shares in Victoria Secrets.
Went to grab a bite from MacDonalds..Kept getting knowing looks from people..we realized why…

Off to Hard Rock Cafe for awhile and then to Land of Toys, Toy’s R Us. Saw the huge ferris wheel..stumbled into Candy Land!!!!!! All the pretty colors and bubble gum and M&M machine that had all colors….ahhh…Candy Land…I had to control myself.

Bumped into a guy named Royal, trying to sell us tickets for a comedy club. We decided to go in 5mins. Why the hell not right…Rushed home, dumped all our stuff and rushed back out…

It was hilarious…fricking awesome!!!! Laughed too much…we thought maybe we should walk back home..after all 20 blocks away…we got all the time in the world. And a good thing too..cause we had hotdogs….kick ass hotdogs!!!!

Friday, 5th August 2005 - ” Everything she does is beautiful. Everything she does is right”
Headed down to the Met. Huge bloody place. History everywhere…got lost in the Egyptian section surrounded by mummies…followed the exit signs and got lost in the modern art section…decided to follow the smell of coffee..and I found CFB outside.
*Note to self - Follow somebody you know in crowded places.
Took a walk to Central Park…Sat on a boat…it was really fun..scary but fucking fun…
Row row row your boat,

Gently down the stream..

Merrily, merrily, merrily…life is but a dream…

Met the Amazing Thoth…one man show at Central Park. He screamed, shouted and played only 1note on the violin…that was bloody hilarious…
Went down to Bloomingdales…just for the little brown bags…bought tickets for Must Love Dogs at. We were in Cinema 2.

Made a mad dash to

Had ourselves yummy Frozen Hot Chocolate…one bite and we were heaven and we stayed there for awhile.

Stumbled on another Candy paradise…Dylan’s Candy Bar. I went mad. Crazheee……was on a high…

Decided to walk home. We liked walking home. Sat down at Central Park for awhile…then took a stroll back. Lovely.
Saturday, 6th August 2005 - “What day is it?And in what month? This clock never seemed so alive”
Sigh….Last day here. Had to clean the apartment….JB & CFB did the housework..while I went down with the laundry all by myself… hehe….Love to watch the machine go round and round..Might have put too much soap powder though…decided to spend the last few hours at Central Park…just lying down and reading..smoking cherry flavour cigar. Each one of us in our own thoughts….not wanting to go home at all!!!
Went back to the apartment to give the keys back to Steven….

Bags all packed. Pivotted our way down the stairs to our cab. Cab driver was really nice too…drove us to a place to get chinese take-out…depression started kicking in.
10 days. 10 days of laughter, peace, mad shopping, candy lands all over Manhattantan…of lovely smelling Victoria Secrets…of funny looking signs…friendly people who just talked to you cause they felt like it…of beautiful horses….lazy days in Central Park…peanut butter madness…Jersey shopping bug…eating yummy pizza for dinner and cupcakes in our kitchen…Lovely sunny, windy days…sometimes each of us pretending we were living there alone…taking in the sights of gorgeous buildings that amaze you…of people who don’t look at you weird…people who come to you and want to exchange a Reese’s peanut butter cup for one cigarette. Cute boys who smile at you….hot girls…taking a boat out to Central Park at any time you want and watching the ducks do their stuff. Doing the laundry in your colgate stained shirt and nobody gives a flying fuck…watching kids with their parents…people walking their dogs…taking a stroll at Union Square…eating, drinking, laughing with their friends. 10 days of this bliss. I didn’t want to come home. I was away from all of it. For 10 glorious days.
10 days. Next time, I’m doing 2weeks. Or forever.
