Hi all,

I figure I wouldn’t be doing this blog any justice, if as Indian Princess, I don’t at least grace it with a few words from royalty ; ) So for the new year, here goes…

I still remember how 2004 began. It started with a rainbow.

I was away from my loved ones in Sing, spending it in SF with another loved one - my then boyfriend, SFG (as u all know). It was my first time spending christmas and new year away from my big, loud, crazy but ever so loving family. But spending it with the person i loved in a new beautiful city made it that much more special and exciting

It was raining very heavily the night before, while we were busy partying our brains out, getting rip roaring drunk, then battling the heavy rains to get home. Lucky our ride back home came in 2 kind souls who had decided they cd make some money fetching stranded pple like me & SFG.
But like with all storms, the aftermath brings with it (at least to me) one of the most beautiful sights. I woke up the next morning to a magnificent rainbow. That stretched from the bay, enveloping the whole bay city area with it. A rainbow so pretty that it made it to the front page of the newspaper, and by the time i rushed to grab my copy in the afternoon, it was all sold out.

Well, as soon as i saw it, I screamed to SFG “Look babe!”, then rushed for the camera and started clicking away. After taking a couple of shots ( ok, 5 to be exact), I could only find myself just standing there, taking in the lovely scene. I couldn’t think of a better way to start the new year.

And there I found myself thinking, “Man, if only Sharkbait, JB, LMM, & all the rest were here to see this!”. It was beautiful. And a moment I am not likely to ever forget . I loved it.

So that’s how 2004 started, with a rainbow. That year saw with it lots of ups & downs. Ups for some, yet more downs for others. Yet through it all, the one thing that made all of it bearable and laughable were those people that mattered most. Yes, if there’s one thing I learnt, it’s this - life dishes out the best & worst to a person. But its the people around you - that you love, that love u back unconditionally, that are closest to our hearts and matter the most, that make the difference in how we come to live & view life. For its these very people who laugh with us in the good times, cry when we cry, and even make us crack up at those very painful, trying times. That make u say, “U know what, it ain’t that bad after all. Life still goes on.”

2005 started as a crazy party in new asia bar. It was Sharkbait’s first time spending new year away from causuarina road, i mean, that’s a huge deal ya!!! So needless to say we all went pretty wild!!!! I know I had a great time!! : )

And even tho I started the new year with some changes in my life (pple who have since just disappeared, my shahrukh khan craze & absolute adoration of Bollywood! hence the nick “indian princess” ; ) who woulda thot??!!! me of all people - a bollywood fan! it still cracks me up!!, getting my room cleaned..), it still began with those near & dear to me. SFG might not have been there in presence - this year it was just the opposite, he was there only in my thoughts - but everyone else I missed last year was right there beside me. 2005 had also begun with a rainbow, my rainbow. And u know what, when I missed u all in 2004, you were not far. You were right there in that rainbow in SF, still ever so close to me, reminding me you guys were just a thought & a hearbeat away.

So thank you all for the laughs, giggles, bitching sessions, tears, words of wisom, the crazy parties (who cd forget LMM’s 21st??!!). I cherish each & everyone of them. If I ever offended, irritated the shit outta any of u in 2004, rest assured that will continue this year too! ; )
Thank you all for being my rainbow. And as we begin the first steps in this new year, let’s open our eyes and be thankful for the little rainbows life gives us, but yet we so often fail to see.

All in all, when I look back to the past year, I find myself saying -
“Despite all the heartache, boy! what a ride!”
U joining me for the next one?
